Kiefer Sutherland started his 48 day prison sentence on Wednesday, December 6th, when he checked into the Glendale City Jail which is considered a private prison facility. In addition to his month and a half stint the 24 star must also complete five years of probation and an eighteen month alcohol education program.It’s been noted that he will be in a cell by himself, because he’s considered a “long term†inmate and will be working along with the other residents in the kitchen and with laundry.

The 24 star has begun serving his prison stay for his DUI-related arrest a few months ago.
Sutherland, a multiple DUI offender, will serve 48 days in jail. Originally, he was able to get the courts to split his stay in two parts so that production on his show would not be disrupted. But because of the writers strike, production already has been disrupted and Kiefer’s gonna have a bah humbug holiday season!

Well, sorta: Us Magazine reports that DUI-plagued actor Kiefer Sutherland was sentenced to 48 days in jail for his September arrest – and went straight from the courthouse to the big house!
Sutherland, arrested after making an illegal U-turn and blowing an alleged .16 after being stopped by the police, was booked into jail at 5:46 yesterday afternoon, and was assigned a work detail “involving kitchen detail and laundry duty”. To hear the cops talk about it, it sounds unlikely that he’ll be pulling a Nicole – Us quotes Sgt. Tom Lorenz of the Glendale Police Department as saying “There is no early release. It’s a must-do 48 days deal. The only person that can shorten the sentence is the judge, and I do not ever see that happening.”

Kiefer Sutherland spent his first full day on his 48-day sentence on Thursday folding jail laundry, according to People.

“[Kiefer’s a] model prisoner,†says a spokesman for the Glendale City Jail. “[But] there’s no way he’s getting out early, unless a judge orders otherwise, which is highly unlikely.â€
“He’s not happy to be here,†Officer John Balian added. “But you can tell from his demeanor that he’s sorry and takes responsibility for what’s he’s done (DUI and a probation violation)… But we don’t put murderers or rapists who are awaiting trial in the same area as a guy convicted of a DUI.â€
Kiefer Sutherland’s new vocation is serving turkey to jail mates
A law-enforcement insider revealed the Emmy and Golden Award-winner’s new vocation, insisting that the actor is not receiving any special treatment behind bars.
“Kiefer is currently doing laundry, but he will be serving turkey for lunch,” the New York Post quoted the jail’s spokesperson, Officer Balian, as saying.
The insider has also revealed that Keifer may have to work hard over the weekend, when the source says the number of inmates is expected to rise. There are only 30 inmates in the jail at the moment.
The 40-year-old star will also be assigned additional duties as they come up, says the source.
According to the insider, Kiefer had a quiet first night behind bars. He went to sleep just after the lights were shut off at 10 p.m. and woke up at 7 a.m., the insider added.
The actor is also said to have a pile of books with him to keep him occupied.
He is allowed two 15-minute visits a day.
“Kiefer isn’t getting any special privileges. He’s being very professional and behaving and acting appropriately,” Balian said. (ANI)
