Kiefer Sutherland on Twitter
Kiefer on the ending of “24″
"This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible, but when all is said and done, it is the loyal worldwide fan base that made it possible for me to have the experience of playing the role of Jack Bauer, and for that I am eternally grateful."

A new statue of Tommy Douglas unveiled in Weyburn has attracted Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland, the former premier’s grandson.

Speaking before a crowd of at least 150 people, Sutherland insists he has waited a long time to see his grandfather again and thanks to the newly unveiled statue, he has.

Federal NDP leader Jack Layton and provincial party leader Dwain Lingenfelter were also on hand to celebrate the legacy of their party.

People in the crowd may have been drawn in by glow of Sutherland celebrity but the statue of Tommy Douglas itself is also what’s keeping them at the riverside location. Dozens remain lined up to have their picture taken with the likeness one of Weyburn’s most celebrated sons.

Weyburn was once home to Douglas, whose daughter Shirley is Sutherland’s mother. She was not well enough to make the trip.

Actor Kiefer Sutherland was on hand in Weyburn, Sask., Friday for the unveiling of a statue honouring his grandfather, Tommy Douglas.

Douglas, a former premier of Saskatchewan, is credited with introducing universal, publicly funded medical insurance in the province, a precursor to Canada’s national health-care system.

Sutherland, the son of actors Shirley Douglas and Donald Sutherland, participated as a representative of the family.

Despite a steady drizzle and chilling winds, the unveiling on Riverfront Boardwalk attracted hundreds of people — many eager for a glimpse of Sutherland. Some brought DVD copies of 24, hoping for an autograph from the popular television show’s star.

“This has been a desire of mine since I can remember,” said sutherland. “It’s unbelievable. I waited a long time to hold my grandpa’s hand.”

C’MON HOLLYWOOD: Give Jack Bauer the movie he deserves!

SOURCE: Joblo.com

We all have our favorite shows, but to be honest I didn’t start revisiting TV until about four or five years ago. This was around the time LOST, SUPERNATURAL and PRISON BREAK came out so naturally it was a good time to dive back in. I blew through most of the good stuff quickly and while at work my buddy Nick and I got to talking and he told me I absolutely needed to start watching 24. “Jack Bauer can do anything,” he said and he meant it. 24 was three or four seasons in at the time and I went through them like my first Red Bull of the day, I was hooked almost immediately. I’ve been an avid fan every since and though it pained me to hear season eight was the last, I’m praying that the upcoming film version does the show justice.

Television action star Kiefer Sutherland is coming to Weyburn, Saskatchewan, to unveil a statue of his late grandfather, politician Tommy Douglas.

Sutherland will be representing Douglas’s daughter Shirley Douglas, who is Sutherland’s mother, and the rest of the family Friday at the unveiling of a statue of Douglas in the city of Weyburn.

Widely known as the father of medicare, Douglas served as Saskatchewan premier from 1944 to 1961, ushering in Canada’s first socialist government as leader of the CCF (Co-operative Commonwealth Federation). He later served as leader of the federal NDP, the national successor to the CCF.

Douglas represented the Weyburn constituency during his time as premier. He died in 1986.

I watched it…. it’s not too bad! At least we can look forward to Kiefer’s voice!!

20th Century Fox is in the middle of putting together their “Fantastic Four” reboot and we’re hearing lots of casting rumors. Since The Thing will be completely CG this time, the studio is looking for actors to lend their voices to the character. And according to CBM and ScreenRant, Bruce Willis and Kiefer Sutherland (“24″) are in talks for the part.

Regarding directors, David Yates (four “Harry Potter” films), James McTeigue (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin) and Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, Smokin’ Aces) are being considered to helm.

As previously reported, Adrien Brody (Predators) is the top contender to play Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Alice Eve (She’s Out of My League) is the top choice for Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) and Kevin Pennington (“90120″) is rumored to play Johnny Storm (Human Torch).
